(New Jersey)
My dad went up to Kansas that week wasn't expecting to go up to NY for opening day of rifle this year but he got a monster 10 point whitetail buck opening morning and was a 160 class buck. We hurried up to NY the night before opening morning. We picked stands and went to bed. My stand I was gonna sit produces a buck each year so far. I got in the stand and waited. My globe fell off in the cold morning so I set my other glove aside. I kept hearing stuff behind me. I couldn't see anything though. Then I heard a crashing sound. I looked behind me and there was a deer. I stood up and waited to see horns. I put the scope up. His head went up and I saw the curve of his rack. At that moment I turned to get situated. My book bag fell and landed right next to my feet. He looked up but didn't see me. I put the gun up and had the scope up and the cross hairs behind a tree at 40 yards. I waited for him to come closer. He took steps stopped and I was on his neck. One more step I said. Then he took half a step and I shot. He ran up 40 yards and plowed into the ground. I was so happy I was screaming forgetting there was another hunter in the field over. I'll never forget this moment and this buck for as long as I live.
